This branch of Dentistry deals with the correction of malpositioned teeth by means of braces. The branch has evolved tremendously in the past decade and treatment results that could not be thought of a decade ago are routine now. The field also encopasses the treatment of cleft lip and palate and other facial deformities. Fixed Functional orthodontics is also commonly practiced for the correction of skeletal deformities.

This field of dentistry is the most sought after branch in dentistry due to the lucritive renumeration. The specialists in this field have the ppower to make an individual beautiful for life, without adding anything artificial, and the renumerations are the best in the field. Orthodontists are sought after, in India as well as abroad. As awareness and the earning potential of people is increasing, more and more people want to look beautiful and opt for orthodontic treatment. The specialists are even called by general dental practioners on an on-call basis.


About the Department
The department is one of the best in Northern India with state of the art equipment. The department practices fixed orthodontics, fixed functional orthodontics and lingual orthodontics. Of late, the department has started with Orthognathic surgeries for correction of severe skeletal malformations. The department has more than 300 running cases and has more than 200 completed cases. The department has also managed the successful treatment of 10 cases of cleft palate, as well as numerous other complicated cases such as those of impacted canine, Ortho-perio involvement, as well as TADS.


Academic Activities
The department successfully conducted a Continuing Dental Education program on 13th April 2014 on "Enigma of Class III malocclusion: different treatment modalities". The program brought together many eminent orthodontists of the region, including those of PGIMER, Chandigarh.
