Seminar on World Menstrual Hygiene Day

Inrecognition of World Menstrual Hygiene Day, Swami Devi Dyal Group ofProfessional Insitutions organized an enlightening seminar aimed at raisingawareness about menstrual health and hygiene among students. The event, held onMay 28th, featured expert speakers, interactive workshops, and informativesessions, drawing significant participation from the student body.

Theseminar was inaugurated by Dr. Kanika Baweja, a renowned gynecologist, whoemphasized the importance of menstrual hygiene and its impact on women’shealth. In her keynote address, Dr. Baweja discussed the biological aspects ofmenstruation, common menstrual disorders, and effective hygiene practices. Shealso debunked several myths and misconceptions associated with menstruation. Thesession covered topics such as:

ProperUse of Menstrual Products: Demonstrationson the correct use of sanitary pads, tampons, and menstrual cups.

SustainableMenstrual Practices: Information oneco-friendly menstrual products and the benefits of sustainable options.

MentalHealth and Menstruation: Discussions onhow menstruation can affect mental health and strategies to manage stress andemotional well-being during menstrual cycles.

Thefaculty members and students participated in Q&A sessions, where they couldanonymously ask questions to the expert. This interactive approach fostered asupportive environment for students to voice their concerns and gain valuableknowledge.

Theseminar received overwhelmingly positive feedback from all in presence many ofwhom expressed appreciation for the college’s efforts to address such a vitaltopic. Students remarked that "This seminar was incredibly informative andempowering. It helped break the silence around menstruation and provided uswith practical knowledge to manage our menstrual health."

Byhosting this seminar, SDDGPI  has taken asignificant step toward normalizing conversations about menstruation andpromoting menstrual hygiene. The event not only educated students but alsoinspired them to advocate for better menstrual health and hygiene practiceswithin their communities.
