The vibrant atmosphere of Swami Devi Dyal Group of Professional Institutions was electrified once again as students, faculty, and staff gathered for the much-awaited Annual Sports Day. Held on 20thto 22nd November,2024 the event showcased not just athletic prowess but also the spirit of unity and camaraderie that defines the college community. The Distinguishes Chief Guest Mr. Sanjiv Sachdeva Ex chief National Badminton coach and member selection committee, at Badminton Association of India, ex-chief badminton coach and Ex. State coordinator, Sports authority of India. Known as the marathon man of Indian Badminton declared the meet OPEN.
The day commenced with a colorful march past, with participants proudly representing their respective departments, clad in their distinctive jerseys. The sight of students marching in unison, carrying the flags of their departments, was a testament to the diversity and inclusivity cherished at SDDGPI.
Following the march past, the inauguration ceremony commenced with the lighting of the torch, symbolizing the spirit of sportsmanship and fair play. Mr. Parag Jindal, Management Member, delivered an inspiring speech emphasizing the importance of sports in holistic education and fostering a sense of discipline and teamwork among students.
The events of the day included a plethora of track and field activities, ranging from sprints to long jumps, shot puts to relay races. Each event saw fierce but friendly competition, with participants giving their all to clinch victory for their respective teams. One of the highlights of the day was the inter-departmental tug-of-war competition, where teams battled it out with sheer determination and grit. The intense matches not only showcased the physical strength of the participants but also their ability to strategize and work together as a cohesive unit.
Apart from traditional track events, the sports day also featured a variety of fun-filled activities, including sack races, three-legged races, and musical chair contests. These games not only added a dash of excitement to the proceedings but also provided opportunities for students to unwind and enjoy themselves.
On the third day, signaling the end of the sports events, the closing ceremony commenced with the distribution of medals and trophies to the deserving winners. However, beyond the accolades and prizes, what truly mattered was the sense of camaraderie and sportsmanship that permeated the atmosphere throughout the day.
In his closing remarks, Mr. Amit Jindal, the General Secretary expressed his gratitude to all the participants, organizers, and volunteers who had worked tirelessly to make the sports day a resounding success. He emphasized the importance of embracing diversity and fostering a culture of mutual respect and understanding, both on and off the field. He added sports is not just about winning or losing, but about coming together as a community to celebrate the joy of participation and the spirit of unity in diversity.
